In the eyes of the law, vaping is a tobacco-free alternative to smoking. However, confusion is always around when it comes to rules and regulations, and people are now suggesting that vaping isn’t as good as we think it is.
As a vaper, it’s always good to bear in mind that there are still a lot of people out there that class vaping as bad as smoking. Smoking indoors has been banned since 2007, so you can understand why people start getting funny when they see a big cloud float past them in public.
A lot of people don’t know the ins and outs of vaping. Unless you’re a cloud chaser, vaping is usually quite discrete and done in offices, smoking areas or in people’s home.
It can get annoying, but it’s always best if you ask before you start vaping in an area which doesn’t permit smoking.
So, what do you do around non-vapers and non-smokers?
Your personal etiquette will have a lot to do with this. If you know you are surrounded by people that don’t smoke or vape, then it is polite to refrain from vaping. Also, there are a lot of places such as restaurants and bars that can make their own rules about vaping. This is either down to the manager’s discretion or due to the fact that customers have complained. Therefore, it is best if you obey the rules.
This sounds like an obvious rule. Blowing a cloud of vapour in someone’s face isn’t the best thing to do. The scent of your E-liquid may taste great, but it doesn’t always smell as good on the way out.
Leave the mod maintenance for something to do at home. It’s not the rudest thing to do but if you spill some liquid on someones sofa or car seat when changing coils it can be an awkward situation. However, if it’s an emergency, then the best idea is to go to the bathroom.
Be careful when filling your tanks. This has the same rules as mod maintenance, so make sure you fill up your tank in an area which is away from fabrics and furniture.
The majority of places are fine with vaping, but you shouldn’t just assume. It’s also a good idea to stay away from tobacco flavoured E-liquids when you are out vaping at events as this can easily confuse people.
You’d be surprised how many people do this, even though it seems really obvious, but don’t just pick up someones device and start puffing away. A lot of people are more than willing to share their mod or their favourite flavour, but just puffing wherever and whenever you want is one way to make your friend annoyed with you.
Lastly, vaping etiquette all comes down to common sense. If you just have a bit of respect for everyone around you then you should be fine. People are a lot more understanding and lenient when they know you have thought about it and taken them into consideration.
